Car Transporters
 Race Shop on Wheels
Photo: Josh Gemmell/VFX Team Transporters, each carrying a driver's primary and spare care, are as spotless, tidy and functional as modern operating rooms. Once the cars have been unloaded, mechanics and engineers have a fully fitted workshop at their disposal. The tools and hardware - screws and fasteners, for example - necessary for the assembly and maintenance of the cars are organized neatly beneath the workbenches that line the inside of the trailer.
Transporters are filled to the brim with sufficient parts to build a complete car many times over. Some of these parts include:

Body Parts
front and rear wings, undertrays, nose cones, repair kits

Telemetry
aerials, computers, calculators, color screens, printers

Electrical equipment
generators, voltage regulators

Upper deck
Two complete race cars and body parts are stored in the upper deck of the transporter
Lift gate
Electric screw lift raises and lowers cars to upper deck; 6,000 pound capacity
Inside walls and ceilings
Lined and insulated with 1 inch styrofoam covered with 0.40 aluminum
Flooring
3/16 plate aluminum flooring on upper and lower decks
Wheels and tires
Eight 255/75R 22.5 16-ply low profile tires
Four 8.25 x 22.5 aluminum wheels (outside)
Four 8.25 x 22.5 steel wheels (inside)
Work and storage area
Everything from nuts and bolts to springs, brakes and complete engines are stored here
