Anatomy of a Pit Stop > Page 2
Usually the Crew Chief, this tire changer takes his position and guides the driver into the team pit area. When his tire change is complete, he clears his air gun over the wall, makes wing adjustments then signals the driver when it is clear for him to leave the pit.

This tire changer must wait by the wall for the Champ Car to enter the pit area. He then sprints around the rear of the car and changes his tire. When he's done he helps push the car out from the pit area.

This tire changer takes his air gun and tire over the wall one lap before the pit stop. Since he does not have to run across the car, he finishes changing the tire in 6 - 8 seconds. He then helps with wing adjustments and clearing used tires.

Like the Inside Front Tire Changer, he is in position one lap before the pit stop. When his tire change is complete, he helps to push the Champ Car out from the pit.
